SKN Red Cross Society donates PPE to front line workers

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 28, 2020 (ZIZ News): The St. Kitts and Nevis Red Cross Society donated several pieces of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to front line workers who are playing a vital part in the fight against the Novel Coronavirus.

While speaking at the April 28 National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) daily briefing, Disaster Coordinator in the St. Kitts and Nevis Red Cross Society, Telca Daniel- Wallace said the society is more than pleased to assist those putting their lives on the line during this difficult time.

“As part of our responsibility to support the national effort, the St. Kitts and Nevis Red Cross is providing PPE for our workers on the front line and we hope that these protective gowns will go a long way in making sure that our most valued human resource on the Frontline continue to be protected”, she expressed.

She said that the SKN Red Cross Society continues to engage with the international and regional Red Cross with aims to secure more resources in the long-term fight against COVID-19.

Daniel-Wallace then made the presentation to Medical Chief of Staff at the JNF General hospital, Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, who thanked the Red Cross Society on behalf of the health ministry.

“On behalf of the ministry of health and everyone who access Healthcare at the Joseph N France hospital and all of our institutions across the island, I say a big thank you. We have forever spoken about an all Society engagement in our fight against COVID-19 and we’re happy that the Red Cross who is always at the forefront of fights in terms of disaster etc have stepped forward”, Dr. Wilkinson said.

Dr. Wilkinson said he felt certain that the protective gowns will go to good use to protect the healthcare workers who in turn will protect the general public.
