SKN-Taiwan Bonds Remain Strong

(ZIZ News) — For the past 32 years, St. Kitts-Nevis has enjoyed fruitful and mutually beneficial diplomatic relations with the Republic of China, Taiwan.

Taiwan was the first country with which St. Kitts and Nevis established diplomatic relations after becoming independent.

During a handing over ceremony on Saturday, Prime Minister, Hon Dr. Timothy Harris said the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis will continue to be a voice for Taiwan on the international scene.

“Those relationships remain strong, remain firm and have grown from strength to strength. Never once did this government hesitate or vacillate in terms of being a genuine friend of Taiwan as it faced many challenges internationally and elsewhere,” he said.

Prime Minister Harris stated that it is the desire of his government to continue the longstanding relationship between St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan for many more years to come.

“We would the government and people of Taiwan to know and to appreciate that St. Kitts is a genuine friend, that we cherish the longstanding relationships and we do desire that they continue to grow from strength to strength,” he said.

The Government of Taiwan has assisted St. Kitts and Nevis in a number of areas including agriculture, education, tourism, solar energy production and I.T. development.
