(ZIZ News) – The hard work of the St. Kitts-Nevis Agriculture Youth Forum (SKNAYF) in the agriculture sector is not going unnoticed.
Minister of Education, the Hon. Shawn Richards has pledged the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that each year, students of the forum receive agriculture scholarships.
He said, “It is the goal of the Ministry of Education to have students graduating with the means to become skilled and entrepreneurs. This ministry has committed to provide where possible, agriculture scholarships every year to the SKNAYF in an effort not just to support their goals but the federation’s. I pledge my government’s commitment to the task at hand. The Ministry of Education has indeed a great role to play in nation building but NGOs and other partners have a special role to play.”
Minister Richards thanked the SKNAYP for the work being done to develop the sector.
“I would like to thank the SKNAYF for their continued hard work and dedication toward youth development and the agriculture sector. These students and the young SKNAYF volunteers have decided to change the minds of society and embrace agriculture; bringing more modern agricultural practices to the schools and to our farmers,” the minister continued.
On Tuesday, the SKNAYP in collaboration with the Inter- American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture handed over garden tools to several primary schools and broke ground for the construction of shade houses at several high schools.
