SKNOC remains committed to the continued training and development opportunities for athletes and coaches

ZIZ News — The St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) continues to play a pivotal role in the development of sports in the Federation by providing the opportunity for hands-on training for the athlete, the coach and the administrator.

The latest recipients of such an opportunity are Mr Lester Isiah Morris, who travelled to Mexico on Saturday 1st December to participate in a Female Football Coaching Course organised and hosted by the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO). This advance level course will be held over a period of eight (8) days and is designed to update participants on the present day science theories of coaching which would be of great significance to the developing NOCs and their Member Federations, who are currently preparing high performance athletes for the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2016 London Olympics.

Mr Morris is a certified FIFA Football Coach, who was recently appointed as the National Coach for the Female National Football Team that participated in the Caribbean Football Union Under 20 competition in Jamaica.

In related news, the SKNOC is also funding the cost of travel and participation of three (3) participants in a Javelin Throw training academy to be held in Grenada from December 8th to 15th, 2013. The selected athletes are: Mr Ryan Phillip and Ms Ashika Williams. Both athletes have continually demonstrated their ability in the Javelin event, and were selected by the St Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA) who currently U-18 male and female champion. They will be accompanied by Coach Elvis Williams, one of the most senior and experienced certified level III national Coach in this particular event.

Additionally, the SKNOC is very proud to be integrally associated with financing and administering an International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF Coaching Education System Certification (CECS) Level One (1) Course that is presently taking place in Nevis over the period December 3rd to 12th, 2013.

At the conclusion of the course it is expected that twenty four (24) new IAAF certified coaches in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis will be better equipped to take an athlete from the grass root level to a more advanced stage in their development.
