SKNTTA Table Tennis Community Coaching Caravan 2011

Coach Calvin with few kids in Challengers

ZIZ News..Oct 26 2011 – The SKNTTA table tennis caravan is in a neighborhood near you, and invites all budding table tennis players to jump on the bandwagon.

Coach Calvin Lake and his technical team started the 2011 Table Tennis Community Coaching Caravan at the Challengers and Sandy Point Communities Centres on October 8th and 15th respectively. The coaching is held every Saturday between 9.30am -12.30pm at the Sandy Point Centre and 3.00pm-6pm at the Challengers Community Centre.

Through its mandate to popularize the sport of table tennis within the communities around St. Kitts and Nevis, Coach Lake and team will journey to two (2) new communities every month to deliver a 15 hour grassroots table tennis coaching programme targeting the At Risk Youths between the ages of 7 to 16 years old.

The expected outcomes of this initiative are to increase the level of participation and awareness in table tennis and to assist in the creation of more active table tennis clubs around St Kitts and Nevis. Persons 18 year and older are also invited to attend the coaching programme to receive training in setting up table tennis clubs, basic coaching and an introduction into sports management.

The table tennis caravan will be at stationed at both Community Centres until November 26th 2011, ending with a Grand Prix Tournament at the Sandy Point Community Centre where all table tennis players will be invited to battle for national TT supremacy.
