Social Security to publish details of Tribunal deliberations
Basseterre, St. Kitts — The St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board says it will soon publish relevant details of the activities of its Tribunal deliberations.
In a statement, the Board said that the appeals process in relation to challenges to its decisions regarding benefits is alive and well is in keeping with the provisions of the Social Security (Determination of Questions) Regulations.
“This offers the opportunity for persons to formally express disagreement with decisions which may be unfavourable to them; and to request review in such cases,” the statement said.
The Board stated that since the formal installation of the Tribunal in 2010, a number of cases have been heard and decided.
The Board disclosed that Tribunal has now recently held sittings on both in St. Kitts and in Nevis during the period of 2nd and 3rd April 2014 to consider certain matters that were brought by claimants for its adjudication.
“In due course, the Social Security Board will publish relevant details of the activities of the Tribunal for general information,” the statement said.
