St. James’ Primary receives grand trophy and cheque

Nevis, May 17th 2013 — James Weekes was quick to point out that despite the small roll at the St. James’ Primary School; they were still able to accomplish big things.

He was speaking at a brief presentation ceremony held at the school on Thursday 16th May.

The ceremony was held to honour the school’s ten athletes who performed spectacularly in the Labour Day inaugural cross island relay run hosted by Weekes and Reggie Douglas.

According to Weekes, not only did the school’s team claim top honours from among the three competing Primary Schools but they also gave the more senior teams comprising of some seasoned athletes’ a run for their money.’ He indicated that some of the times run on some of the legs by the school’s athletes, were much better than the times of some of the senior athletes.

He commended them for a job well done and presented each athlete with a medal.

Ms Tracey Frazer then made the presentation of a cheque valued $500.00 to Headmistress at the school, Mrs. Janice Richards who was exuberant. She warmly congratulated her athletes and stated:

“It’s like we would say colloquially: ‘They bang us ah Park but we bang them ah Path!’ “

She vowed that her school will again participate in next year’s event and promised that they would aim to perform even better.

James Weekes then presented the school champion’s trophy to the school’s Coach, Shefton Daniel.
