St. Kitts and Nevis congratulates new Dominican Republic President-elect

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 4TH 2012 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis has congratulated the new President-Elect of the Dominican Republic.

Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas in congratulating His Excellency Danilo Medina Sánchez on his recent victory at the polls.

“On behalf of my Government and people, I also extend best wishes to you and express our willingness to continue the political dialogue within CARIFORUM,” said Prime Minister Douglas in a message.

Prime Minister Douglas told Mr. Sánchez: “the re-election of your Liberation Party demonstrates the confidence that the people have in you to boost economic growth and development. As you prepare to take up the leadership wand, I encourage you to exercise patience, astuteness and diligence to govern your people. I extend best wishes for continued peace and prosperity.”

Mr. Sánchez who was elected in the first round, new President of the Dominican Republic, to replace the outgoing Head of State, Leonel Fernàndez.

Danilo Medina Sánchez (61 years old, married, 3 daughters) has degrees in chemistry and economics. He is a former President of the Chamber of Deputies between 1990 and 1994.
