St. Kitts and Nevis diplomacy thrust to embrace non-traditional partners

Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis says the global climate demands that the twin-island Federation will continue to embrace non-traditional partners in pursuing its diplomatic policies.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett told the recent Cabinet Press Conference that diversity and cooperation with new diplomatic allies, can offer best practices that can be adapted to the Federation’s national advantage.

So far this year, the St. Kitts and Nevis has established diplomatic relations with Indonesia.

Diplomatic relations were established with Paraguay, Kazakhstan, Switzerland and Vietnam last year.

Mr. Nisbett announced that the long-awaited Foreign Policy Document has been approved by the Cabinet and will soon be circulated to St. Kitts and Nevis Embassies and Missions abroad.

“It offers clear guidelines for our overseas representatives as well as our staff here at capital to follow in our engagements with members of the global community,” said Nisbett, the first Nevisian-born foreign minister.
