St. Kitts and Nevis records fourth road fatality so far for 2012

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT (November 13th 2012) – The Police in Tabernacle are investigating a traffic accident which occurred along the Island’s Main Road at Boureaux at about 11:50 am on November 13th 2012. The accident involved motor lorry P7661 own by the Solid Waste Management Corporation and driven by Oliver Maynard of Molyneaux.

Investigations revealed that the lorry was travelling towards Cayon when it overturned on the seaside of the road while negotiating the curve in the vicinity of the Biomedical Research Center. Kelston Williams of Cayon and Michael Richards of New Road were travelling in the truck’s cabin with the driver, while Terrence Johnson alias “Two Pack” of Prickley Pear Alley was travelling at the back of the truck.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer, Dr. Garfield Alexander while the other occupants were taken to the JNF Hospital by the EMS with non- life threatening injuries. Richards and Williams were warded in stable condition while the driver, Oliver Maynard was discharged and taken in Police custody.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Investigations are ongoing. This is the fouth road fatality in St. Kitts for 2012.
