St. Kitts and Seychelles ministers discuss tourism during CTO meet

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 17TH 2012 (CUOPM) – Though St. Kitts and Nevis and the Seychelles are thousands of miles apart and on opposite sides of the world, the two islands still see area for cooperation and for togetherness.

According to eTurboNews, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Sen. The Hon. Richard O. Skerritt and the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, the Hon. Alain St. Ange met during the Caribbean Tourism Organization State of the Tourism Industry Conference in St. Kitts.

The Seychelles Minister had traveled to St. Kitts to address their organization’s 2012 conference where he was greeted on his arrival at the airport at St. Kitts by the Honorable Richard O. Skerritt.

They exchanged ideas for more joint approaches on work as island nations dependent on tourism, and also they both agreed on the need for long-haul tourism destinations such as the Caribbean islands and the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands to continue to lobby against the UK Carbon Tax, which is working against the continued development of these island nations where their environment have been protected as part of their tourism attractions.

When he took the podium at the Caribbean Tourism Organization, Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles played a Seychelles tourism promotional DVD to showcase the island’s natural attractions to a full conference room of Caribbean islanders and invited panelists and press.

Minister Alain St. Ange of the Seychelles has also issued an invitation to Minister Richard O. Skerritt to visit the Seychelles.
