St. Kitts & Nevis Association of Professional Engineers

Basseterre, St. Kitts…Thursday April 25, 2013 — The St. Kitts/Nevis Association of Professional Engineers is pleased to report that the process of reorganising is continuing at a pace.

On 23rd April, the Association held a general meeting at which matters to do with the constitution were discussed.

The meeting also received an update on the preparation of the Act to go before the National Assembly that would govern the accreditation of professional Engineers.

It was noted that a review of similar legislation in the region revealed that it was necessary for Engineers to be members of their Engineering Association as a precondition to receive the Designation of Professional Engineer.

The activities of the Association continued on Wednesday 24th April when Engineers on the Island of Nevis met with a delegation of the core group.

This meeting was held as part of the process of ensuring that every and all Engineers in the Federation were aware of the attempt to revitalize the Association.

The meeting which lasted for over an hour and a half reviewed the activities to date towards the recognisation and the projected plans towards the election of officials scheduled for July 2013.

The meeting was quite positive and the Association received the commitment of the Engineers on Nevis.

The meeting was coordinated by Engineer Lester Blackett.

The members of the Core Group that attended were Engineers, Peter Jenkins, Errol Douglas, Fitzgerald Boncamper, Bertil Browne, Junie Caines and Nubian Greaux.

The meeting agreed to work towards achieving the objectives of the Association.

The election of Officers is scheduled for July 2013. All Engineers in the Federation are asked to get involved.
