ZIZ News…Jan 25 2013 — At a brief handing over ceremony held at Camp Springfield on Wednesday 23rd January 2013, the St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) Band was presented a Bach Series Trumpet by the Director of Culture Mr. Creighton Pencheon.
This timely donation was a gift, courtesy of Mr. Bruce Skerritt, one of the Nation’s Premier musicians who reside abroad. During the presentation, Mr. Pencheon explained that Mr. Skerritt wished that the trumpet to be given to a young aspiring musician who would be disciplined and conscientious in learning the art, and he hoped to receive gratifying news about the recipient’s achievements in the future.

The proud recipient of this donation is fourteen (14) year old Brandon Chambers. Brandon enlisted in the SKNDF Band Beginners Music Programme for Woodwind and Brass Instruments in 2012 and is now a fulltime member of the Band.
Second Lieutenant (2Lt) Sylvester Charles, Bandmaster SKNDF Band accepted the donation on behalf of Commander of the SKNDF, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick E. Wallace. Lt Charles expressed profound gratitude and appreciation for the timely gift.
The SKNDF wishes to thank Mr Bruce Skerritt profoundly for his valuable and kind donation, and to assure him that the musical instrument donated will be adequately care for and well utilized to the benefit of the Federation; as the SKNDF pursues positive development of young minds in the country through music.
