St. Kitts Nevis National Education Foundation Hosts Scholarship Ceremony

(ZIZ News) — On Tuesday, the St. Kitts Nevis National Education Foundation presented monetary scholarships to more than 40 students.

The students were honoured at the first ever scholarship ceremony held at the at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium.

Minster of Education, Hon. Shawn Richards congratulated the recipients and urged them to live up to the expectations bestowed upon them.

“Students I implore you to remain focus and continue your drive towards furthering your studies. Today, your names will be recorded in history as being the St Kitts Nevis National Education Foundation’s first set of scholarship recipients. You should consider yourselves very privileged as I am told that there were over 100 applicants vying to be chosen,” he said.

The Caribbean Premier League T20 Public Relations Officer, Peter Breen, said he was proud of the students’ achievements and impressed with their commitment to sports and education.

“St Kitts and Nevis continues to play an integral role in the development of cricket. Looking at your history you know you’ve produced many outstanding people in the fields of art, sport and leadership as well and that’s critical components I think of an education,” said.

He continued, “it’s very important that you take the lessons you’re learning and you will continue to learn into your later lives and this is a really important day for you as you continue to develop into young adults and adulthood.”

The vision of the St. Kitts Nevis National Education Foundation is to provide deserving, disadvantaged students with an opportunity to receive an excellent education despite their circumstances.
