St. Kitts-Nevis Special Olympians Claim More Medals

(ZIZ News) – The St. Kitts and Nevis Special Olympics team continues to represent the Federation proudly, as more athletes attained medals at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games.

Following up on the silver medal performance by Rojem Felix in Bocce, Constance Bagnall bagged the Federation’s first gold medal in the ladies singles division in the same event.

Later, Berenice Jimenez of Nevis also gave a good showing of herself in the Bocce event to win a gold medal.

In athletics, St. Kitts and Nevis claimed a total of three medals so far. Roger Crawford won the gold medal in the 200m event, with Shontelle Hazel taking silver in the ladies shot put and Soranlli Matos Zacarias winning gold in the 400m race.

Jaren Pryce was the only athlete to medal in aquatics after placing third in the 100m freestyle.

The other national athletes who took part in the aquatic events were Joseph Mason, Lemuel Hobson and Kemuel Sharry.

The Federation’s tennis players have been playing in their respective divisional matches all week and are now into the playoff stage.

In the singles, Danny Blake, Sisqo Phillip and Dionte Foster won all their matches played so far.

However, Foster suffered a knee injury and had to withdraw from playing in the doubles competition. His coaches are hoping he will recover in time to continue in the remaining singles matches.
