Stakeholders Discuss Issues Related To Leadership Building through Commitment To Education

(EMU) – St. Kitts, Sep 11, 2013: Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Mrs. Ionie Liburd-Willette has challenged participants in a one-day round table discussion on Monday September 9, to stand firm in their resolve to be committed to excellence in education whatever their sphere of influence.

Mrs. Willette who was addressing the gathering as part of the celebration of Education Week, reminded them that they were being given the opportunity to showcase the achievements and development of teachers and students and the education system and as such should make a valiant effort to seek to contribute to its advancement.

Chairperson of the opening ceremony, Education Officer Mr. Stanley Knight announced topics for the event including; Standardization of Education; The Holistic Value of Technology in Education; Ensuring Work Readiness Through Training; Curriculum Analysis and Review as well as Yardsticks for Measuring Education Success and Redressing the Short Falls.

Mr. Knight said that the discussion had been planned so that at the end there would be clear recommendations based on concerns raised and discussed.

The event sought to identify issues and projections for the next decade.
