Stamp and Jingle Competitions launched to raise awareness of the disabled population in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis

AnnouncementFilePhotoA(Basseterre): The St. Kitts Nevis Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and the St. Kitts Nevis Association of Persons with Disabilities announces the launch of two (2) competitions open to the general public that is geared around awareness raising of the issues impacting persons with disabilities.

In December 2012, the UNESCO FUNDED Human Rights Sensitization, Policy and Program for Persons Living with Disabilities Project was launched on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, October 03rd. This goal of the project is to have the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis accede to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The two key objectives are to promote awareness about the disabled persons in the Federation and to change the mind-set of people in relation to the population of persons living with disabilities.

Two interaction opportunities to be afforded are a Stamp and Jingle Competitions. Both competitions conclude on Friday October 25th 2013 and the winners will be announced during the celebrations for International Day for Persons with Disabilities on December 03rd 2013.

These are open to the entire general public for participation. Competition details can be collected from the Departments of Social Services on both St. Kitts and on Nevis.
