STEP Health and Career Expo

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 21, 2020 (ZIZ News): West Independence Square was abuzz with activity on Friday as the Skills Training Empowerment Programme (STEP) hosted their Health and Career Expo in celebration of their 3rd year anniversary.

Booths from various organizations such as Herbert Marine Services, AVEC and the St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services had items on display as well as pamphlets that provided the general public with information about job opportunities available in their industries.

Promoting a career in the Fire Department, Fire Substation Officer, Timothy Martin explained that while there might be risks involved within the Fire and Rescue Services field there are protective measures in place to mitigate these risks.

There were also organizations from the health sector offering blood pressure screening, blood sugar testing, HIV/AIDS testing and an organization offering nutrition education.

Minister of State with Responsibility for Health, Hon. Wendy Phipps was in attendance and she explained that the health and wellness of the national workforce is necessary to achieve growth.

Other government officials present were Prime Minister, Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris and Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister Osbert DeSuza.
