Stoney Grove Strikers Blows Out Hardtimes

Sports Page -Thursday 20th June 2013– It almost sounds like a Cricket score if you were to say 17 for 1 but unfortunately for the Hardtimes team it was a game of Football and so the only way to say it would be 17 to 1.

That was the case at the Bath Village Playing field on the evening of Wednesday 19th June as the action in the Basil Challenger league continued. The league is being coordinated and hosted by the CCC Bath United Football Club and is sponsored in the main by Caribbean Cable Communications.

It was Hardtimes coming against a fired up Stoney Grove Strikers and you could not have asked for a more one sided game!

Hardtimes as their name suggests had a HARD TIME getting the ball into the offensive half of the square and the Stoney Grove men were relentless and merciless in their attack on the goal.

When the dust cleared, it was an astonishing score line of 17 goals to 1 in favour of the Stoney Grove team.

Delroy Newton struck the back of the net 7 times; Don Dyer had 3 strikes; Kester Evans also converted a hat trick and Dequani Newton, not to be outdone had three strikes of his own. Naheem Liburd, for good measure also converted once.

For the Hard times team, Tinari Chapman scored a consolation goal.
