The Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris held the 10th anniversary of his “Help a Child Program” at the Miracle Temple Church at Lodge Project on Friday, awarding students of the Violet Petty Primary School, Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School, Estridge Primary School and the Edgar T. Morris Primary School.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Harris says he too needed much help throughout his academic life.

“Throughout my own educational journey, I am reminded that there was somebody, somewhere that outstretched their hand to me and assisted me,” he said.

He said he is now, with the assistance of his sponsors, giving the students a chance to accomplish their own academic goals, adding, “we are attempting to help the children and to give them a chance; a chance which later on in life they will be sufficiently empowered to come and to give someone else a chance also. By making this simple contribution, we are attempting to help prepare these awardees for the future.”

The Pemberton family also donated four boxes of school supplies to the four primary schools in the constituency.

Over two hundred and forty students have so far benefitted from the disbursement of over one hundred and twenty thousand dollars ($120,000) since the inception of this program ten years ago.
