Summer Youth Calypso Development Program

In efforts to assist the federation’s youth with preparations for the Sugar Mas Junior Calypso Competition in December, the Ministry of Culture and the National Carnival Committee are collaborating to host a summer youth calypso development program beginning on Saturday at the Charles E. Mills Secondary School in Sandy Point.

Chairman of the National Carnival Committee Noah Mills said the programme is a step up from workshops that have been held in the past. The programme will be facilitated by local calypsonians and musicians.

He said youths from ages 8 through 17 are invited to the free sessions which will run from 9 am to 4 pm, with free lunch included.

Bus fee will also be refunded. Mills said this first workshop will cater to youths from Dieppe Bay to Sandy Point.

As workshops will be hosted according to school zones, they will also be hosted in Verchilds, at the Dr William Connor Primary School, in Newtown, St. Peters, Cayon, Molinuex and Nevis.
