Suspect in custody for latest homicide

ZIZ News…April 19 2012 — The Criminal Investigation Department has taken a suspect into custody in relation to the latest homicide on Thursday morning.

Officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force responded to a report of a shooting at East Park Range and upon arrival Jermaine Browne of Conaree was found lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his body.

According to the Press and Public Relations Officer Sgt Stephen Hector, after an initial investigation at the crime scene, the Delta Squad, accompanied by Commissioner Walwyn went to the suspect’s hiding place and took him into custody.

Hector said the name will be made public once the suspect is officially charged.

Commissioner Walwyn wishes to notify the public that the two shootings are not related regardless of the rumours that are being circulated. The public is urged to continue their daily operations in a normal manner.
