The 17th annual cross channel swim between St. Kitts and Nevis, took place on Sunday March 31 2019.
Some 133 swimmers in the UNASSISTED category and another 63 in the ASSISTED category, braved the cold water and the channel, to swim from Oualie Beach in Nevis to the park Hyatt in St. Kitts.
Minister of Sports on Nevis, Hon. Eric Evelyn was present at Oualie beach for the after 8 am start to the race and stated that he was happy to note that there were more local participants than last year.
First in was David Shackley of the USA, in a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 35 seconds.
While second placer Jane Esahkar-Gage, also of the USA arrived closely behind in 1 hour 3 minutes and 48 seconds.
A total of 196 participated in the event.
