SWMC gets baler tomorrow

ZIZ Newsroom–September 23, 2013–The Solid Waste Management Corporation will be receiving a new baler and associated equipment for the Conaree Landfill tomorrow morning.

The equipment arrived here about a week ago and will be officially handed over tomorrow.

This is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the management and disposal of solid waste on the island and develop a waste to energy plant.

General Manager of the SWMC, Alphonso Bridgewater says the plant is a viable alternative for energy production

During tomorrow’s handing over ceremony officials will provide an overview of the project.

And Minister of Health the Honourable Marcella Liburd would accept the equipment on behalf of the government before handing them over to the solid waste management corporation.
