Tabernacle Sporting Facility

The people of Tabernacle will soon be able to participate in sporting activities closer to home as work got underway for the Tabernacle Multi-Use Sport Facilities with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.

Two two-level buildings are expected to contribute to the vitality of the Tabernacle community by encouraging social opportunities for persons of all ages, following the completion of the new sporting facility.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport Tom Buchanan said the sporting facility has the potential to transform the community in very significant and meaningful ways.

Minister of Labour Hon. Vance Amory encouraged persons within the community to take care of the facility when it’s completed.

Representative for Constituency #7 Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris thanked those persons who will contribute to the construction of the facility.

He spoke of his expectations for the area.

Afzal Khan Assistant to the CEO of Contec DT spoke of the aim of the structures.

The total capital cost of the tabernacle multipurpose sporting facility is approximately $3.5 million dollars. 1 million of which has been pledged by Range Development.

The pavilions will both include similar amenities such as kitchen, concession area, lobby, deck, rest rooms, showers and lockers, office spaces and recreational areas as well as a restaurant in building “b”.

A playground in view of all facilities will be provided for safe enjoyable recreation for younger visitors

The symbolic turning of the soil was done by Prime Minister Harris, Permanent Secretary Tom Buchanan and contractors Keivon Harris and Denville Francis.
