Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 28, 2019 (ZIZ News): Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Dr Jaushieh Joseph Wu arrived in St. Kitts for the first time on Tuesday for a one day visit to the Federation.

Dr. Wu was welcomed at Kayan Jet by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Mark Brantley who he met in Taiwan approximately 3 weeks ago.

Minister Brantley pledged the federation’s continued support of Taiwan’s international participation.

Dr Wu thanked the Federation for its support and said Taiwan is pleased to assist the Federation in several areas of development.

According to the Taiwanese Embassy, Dr. Wu‘s visit demonstrates the strong bonds between Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis and also can be seen as a reciprocal visit following visits by Prime Minister Harris and Foreign Affairs Minister Brantley earlier this year.

Following the welcome meeting with Hon. Brantley, Dr. Wu called on Governor General Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton GCMG CVO QC JP and was hosted to lunch by Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris.

Dr. Wu also visited Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park before departing for Nevis where he was scheduled to visit the site of Pinney‘S Beach Park, an ongoing project between Taiwan and St. Kitts & Nevis.

Premier Brantley was also scheduled to host Dr. Wu for dinner this evening.

Foreign Minister Wu is expected to leave for St. Vincent and the Grenadines from Nevis on Wednesday morning.
