Taiwan funding small businesses in Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 30, 2019 (ZIZ News): Women and youth under the age of 35 in Nevis who own small businesses will have the opportunity to gain financial support through an agreement between the republic of China Taiwan and the Nevis Island Administration.

Premier of Nevis Hon. Mark Brantley announced the signing of the agreement for funds to be made available by the Taiwan government on his official Facebook page, minutes after the signing on Monday.

The Premier noted that the fund of $5 million will be made available to women and youth under the age of 35 in Nevis to fund business start ups which qualify as marketable business ideas.

He said the nia hopes to lend up to $100,000 and to begin accepting applications in January, 2020.

The fund will be managed through the Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU).

The Premier said “My government continues its strong support of small business development in Nevis and we look forward to women and youth taking advantage of this programme tailor made for them which aims to see more businesses owned by these two groups in Nevis.”
