Taiwan’s Ambassador Tsao urges students to use laptops productively

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 9TH 2011 – Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Miguel Tsao says students who are benefiting from the 2nd Phase of the One-2-One Laptop Programme need to utilize the lap tops productively as possible.
“I would like to urge the many students to be very careful and use your time on the lap tops wisely and try to gain even more knowledge as each new day brings,” said Ambassador Tsao during the presentation of some 2,400 laptops to St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas on behalf of the Government and people of Taiwan.
Ambassador Tsao said the Republic of China (Taiwan) is dubbed as the ‘Republic of Computers,’ where ninety-two percent (92%) of the world’s laptop are manufactured by Taiwanese businesses.
“As a loyal diplomatic ally of St. Kitts and Nevis, we would like to pledge our commitment in this technological age to the students of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis,” said the Taiwanese diplomat, who added:

“Good tools are pre-requisite to the successful implementation of a job. I do believe all the students will receive their laptops from the hands of the Prime Minister – it is tantamount to have keys for their bright future.”
Ambassador Tsao commended Prime Minister Douglas for his continued reassurance in fulfilling his commitment to the Federation’s future leaders in the form of laptop computers.
“The students of this country are lucky to have great leaders, such as Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Denzil Douglas who put its students on top priority when we are discussing how to upgrade the education system,” said the Taiwanese diplomat, who presented some 2,400 laptops to Prime Minister Douglas.
The laptops are for students of the Fifth and Fourth Forms of the Charlestown Secondary School and the Gingerland Secondary School on Nevis and the Verchild’s High School, the Basseterre High School, the Washington Archibald High School, the Charles E. Mills Secondary School, the Cayon High School, the Immaculate Conception Catholic School and the St. Christopher Preparatory School on St. Kitts.
Students of the fifth forms in all schools received lap tops just before the end of the final term of previous school year.
