Teacher Training Opening Ceremony
Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 27, 2019 (ZIZ News): With the start of a new school year fast approaching members of teaching fraternity gathered at the Rivers of Living Water Christian Centre on Monday for the opening ceremony of the annual Teacher Training Summer Workshop, under the theme “Education for All, Embracing Change and Securing the Future”.
Chief Education Officer, Daryl Lloyd in his welcome remarks stated that the ministry is proud of the legacy of the 2018-2019 academic year but has noted that there are going to be changes in the way forward in the education sector.
Minister of Tourism, The Honourable Lindsay Grant spoke on behalf of the Minister of Education, Honourable Shawn Richards.
He stated that the ministry is in the process of a widespread curriculum enhancement program to increase student success.
Minister grant also noted that it will become mandatory for teachers to take professional and development courses in order to maintain their teaching license therefore improving the effectiveness of teachers.
The teacher training summer workshop will run for one week ending on Friday August 31st, from 8:30 am to 3pm daily at various venues in St. Kitts.
