Teacher’s Union Week of Activities Underway

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 1, 2019 (ZIZ News): The St. Kitts Teacher’s Union has organized a full week of activities this week in celebration of World Teachers Day.
World Teachers Day, officially recognized by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is commemorated annually on October 5.
President of the St. Kitts Teachers Union, Dale Phipps said the week of activities is being held to recognize and show appreciation to all teachers of the federation.
Mr. Phipps said, “We have vested interest in the development of our teachers. Basically we are a body that continues to champion the cause of all teachers, we are the voice of the members but also we have a special interest in the functioning of the education system.”
The week of activities include a Welcome Reception for new teachers, a Retired Teachers’ Appreciation Day on Wednesday and Teachers’ Appreciation Day in school on Thursday, and World Teacher’s Day on Saturday.
The St. Kitts Teacher’s Union Week of activities are being held under theme, ‘Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession’.
