The Children’s Dance Theatre prescribes dance therapy!

St. Kitts – The month of February customarily highlights Valentine’s Day and Black History Month and this year The Children’s Dance Theatre (CDT) is adding dance to that list. With an already sold out recital scheduled for Sunday 16th February 2014, an encore is planned for Saturday 22nd February 2014. ‘SHAKE IT OFF’ is shaping out to be just what the doctor ordered. Under the tutelage of Nekirah Nicholls, Tama Martin, Xia Claxton, Roberitine Webbe, Krystal Glasford, Shanda LaBega, Heidi Slack and Shara-Lee Mourillon, these young and talented dancers have been working relentlessly in hopes of delivering a phenomenal performance in this their twenty-fourth season of dance.

This year’s dance therapy theme has encouraged the dancers to leave their troubles in the wings and allow the transcending nature of dance to take total control once they hit the stage. From thought provoking and exciting choreography to stunning costumes and stage design, this recital has not neglected any element of a superb production.

Director Julie Martin has described it as ‘an in-depth exploration of the powerful and healing effect of dance’ and warmly invites you to join The Children Dance Theatre as they utilize the art of dance to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit.

The show will also feature the reigning Miss Talented Teen and Miss Caribbean Talented Teen who are both proud members of The Children’s Dance Theatre. Also making a special appearance is National Carnival Queen, Kaeve ‘Mimi’ Armstrong, The Fireflies Dance School, Creative Sole Dance Company and the CFBC Dance Ensemble.

Get your dose of dance therapy this Sunday 16th February 2014 at 5pm and refill your prescription on Saturday 22nd February 2014 at 6pm at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium.
