The St. Christopher Children’s Home Reflects on its 11th Annual Family Walk Run
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, December 15, 2022 (SCCH) — The 11th Annual Family Walk Run in aid of the St. Christopher Children’s Home saw hundreds complete the 5K run and 2K walk on Saturday November 26 in this year’s neon green shirts.
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, where the event is traditionally held, came alive once again with hundreds of familiar faces plus new ones. Board Members of the Home along with volunteers from Ross University School of Medicine, the St.Kitts Marriott Resort Hotel and partners as well as a number of volunteers from Chipeen Volunteer Center-St. Kitts and Nevis welcomed attendees. Faculty and students of Windsor University conducted complimentary health checks prior to the start of the event. Warmly welcomed to the event and for their show of support was the Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Terrence Drew, Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Dr.Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Public Infrastructure and Utilities et al, Hon. Konris Marynard and Mrs. Maynard and Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Marcus Natta.
New to this year’s event was the addition of a hydration station sponsored by Tappwater Caribbean where attendees were able to fill their own reusable bottles. As usual, “Mr. X” led the warm-up session, Hon. Dr. Hanley delivered remarks and flagged off the race, and St. Kitts Marriott Resort provided another delightful barbecue at the end.
The medal ceremony and highly anticipated raffle followed where 9 lucky winners snagged prizes from raffle sponsors St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Koi Resort, Park Hyatt St. Kitts, Rock Lobster, Buddha Bar, Corks and Screws, Yummies by Yani, Soup Café, Beauty Inside Out, Tappwater Caribbean and L. Bass Studio.
