Three ships to visit Port Zante on Tuesday, 11 scheduled this week

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 21ST 2011 (CUOPM) – The parade of cruise ships to St. Kitts’ Port Zante continues Tuesday with the visit of three of the 11 ships scheduled for this week.

The 2,540-passenger capacity Serenade of the Seas, the 3,100 passenger capacity Emerald Princess and the 2,281-passenger capacity Mein Schiff are expected with nearly 8,000 passengers.

On Monday, the 2,450-passenger Celebrity Summit arrived with 2,282 passengers on board and crew of 917, while the 821-passenger capacity Braemar docked with 894 passengers and a crew of 370. Most of the 3,176 passengers came ashore and went sightseeing, hiking, sailing, snorkeling, sun and sea bathing or shopping.

The first ship to visit this week was the 2,224-passenger capacity Norwegian Dawn on Sunday with 2,352 passengers.

Two cruise liners – the 2,680-passenger capacity Carnival Miracle and the 2,850-passenger capacity Celebrity Eclipse are to dock on Wednesday; the 3,050-passenger Carnival Victory and the 3,114-passenger Adventure of the Seas on Friday; and the 540-passenger Silver Spirit on Saturday.

An estimated 25,000 passengers are expected to visit this week as the 2011/2012 cruise ship season gathers pace.

Just over 6,000 cruise ship passengers visited St. Kitts last week. The five ships brought a total of 6,099 passengers and crew of 2,501.

Last Friday, the 3,050-passenger capacity Carnival Victory brought 3,088 passengers and a crew of 1,073.

Visiting during the past week were the 180-passenger Star Clipper with 119 passengers and crew of 78; the 2,540-passenger Serenade of the Sea with 2,133 passengers and a crew of 846; the 255-passenger Royal Clipper with 173 passengers and the 661-passenger capacity Saga Ruby with 586 passengers.
