(ZIZ News) — The Sugar City Toastmasters Club is putting on a competition that it is calling a Humorous and Evaluation Speech Contest.
Stewart Francis, member of Sugar City Toastmasters said, members of the club will participate in the very first humour-themed competition.
“The participants in the contest will be writing their own speech as per the rules of Toastmaster International and that speech can be focussed on any area, again in the humorous theme. It can be an instance/ a scenario they experienced and they want to write on and they found it had been bit humorous. They can refer to that,” he said.
Speeches will be evaluated on content of presentation, staying within the time limit, mannerism and body language.
Francis told our reporter that the competition will have two parts, one with a prepared humour-laced speech and the other as an impromptu speech with the topics coming from any category.
“There’s a pool of topics and randomly the volunteer will select a specific topic and they will have to speak on that. Usually the topic can be anything personal, relationship, news, politics, general things, social media topics out there,” he said.
The event is set for Saturday 26th September at 6:45pm at the Customs and Excise Department in Bird Rock.
Recently, the club held its Charter Ceremony, where members were installed and some inducted.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that helps its members improve communication, public speaking, and leadership skills.
