Today Tuesday 9th April is Budget Day in St. Kitts and Nevis

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 9TH 2013 (CUOPM) – The people of St. Kitts and Nevis awaits the presentation of the 2013 Budget.

During the Budget Session of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly on Tuesday 9th April, Minister of Finance, the Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will lay on the Table, the Estimates for 2013 and the Report of the Director of Audit for 2011, before introducing the Appropriation Act, 2013.

The Bill, which provides for the services of St. Kitts and Nevis for the financial year from January 1st 2013 to December 31st 2013, appropriates the sum of three hundred and eight million, three hundred and seven thousand, four hundred and eight dollars (EC$380,307,480) for recurrent, capital and net lending charges on the Consolidated Fund.

An additional one hundred and forty seven million, eight hundred and eleven thousand, three hundred and seven nine dollars (EC$147,811,379 is provided by law for a total estimates of five hundred and twenty eight million, one hundred and eighteen thousand, eight hundred and fifty nine dollars.

Expenses provided by law include EC$151,920 under Governor General; EC$90, under Audit; EC$1.48 million under the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs; EC$577,895 under the Office of the Prime Minister and EC$145.5 million under the Ministry of Finance.
