Tropical wave expected by Tuesday

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 6, 2020 (ZIZ): The St. Kitts Met Office has advised that a tropical wave is currently approaching the area and will heighten the chances for cloudiness and showers across the Islands on Tuesday July 7.

According to the National Hurricane Centre, the eastern Atlantic tropical wave has an axis along 25W from 00N-19N, is moving west at 15 knots.

Saharan dust is noted over much of the eastern Atlantic, mainly from 13N-22N east of 40W.

Due to this associated dry air scattered moderate convection is confined near the monsoon trough from 03N-08N between 20W-30W.

Isolated moderate convection is within 300 nm of the wave axis. Convection is the circular motion that happens when warmer air or liquid, which has faster moving molecules, makes the atmosphere less dense then — rises.

High pressure North of the area will maintain fresh to strong trade winds in the south-central Caribbean through Friday increasing to near strong force winds on Thursday night.
