Two charged with murder of British teenager

(Antigua Observer) Guyana – Two men were charged with the murder of a British teenager when they appeared in court on Thursday.

Aaron Hing, 23 and Staymon George, 23 appeared in Georgetown Magistrates’ Court were they were told that they were not required to enter a plea to the charge of murder.

The who were remanded, are scheduled to return to court on Friday as the Chief Magistrate would have to assign the case to another district.

Last weekend George and Hing who is the god brother of the British teenager, Dominica Bernard, confessed to the killing burying the body in Corentyne, Berbice to the east of here.

The investigators reported that Bernard’s friend Staymon George was paid more than GUY$100,000 to carry out the crime.

Hing and George told investigators that they had taken the Bernard to a dark area where they bludgeoned him to death.

Bernard had been reported missing following his arrival from Britain in October, the investigation into the teen’s disappearance took a turn for the worse last week Friday after the Police received information that the young man’s body had been buried in a shallow grave.

Hing was arrested late Friday and his accomplice was held on Saturday morning.

It is believed that robbery may have been a motive since the teen – a budding filmmaker, had traveled to Guyana with a large sum of money to assist him in his film making efforts.
