U.S. Ambassador to Hand over Equipment for Youth Rehabilitation Center

On Thursday, September 20th, United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Larry L. Palmer will formally hand over US$300,000 worth of equipment for the New Horizon Youth Co-Ed Rehabilitation Center to the government of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The donation complements USAID’s three-year Juvenile Justice Reform program for the OECS countries which is being implemented by the OECS Secretariat.

The handover will take place during a brief ceremony, starting at 9:30 am at the New Horizon center. Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas and Minister of Health, Social Services, Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs Marcella Liburd will be in attendance at the ceremony.

The equipment, which was funded under the U.S. Southern Command’s Humanitarian Program, includes beds, computers, desks, chairs, security equipment and a standby generator.
