ZIZ NEWSROOM, BASSETERRE, 9th NOVEMBER, 2011 – Two officials from the University of Leicester’s School Of Management are in the federation meeting with students who are enrolled in the school’s online courses.

On Monday the professors met with members of the media to update the public on their visit and the school’s distance learning courses.

Professor Allen Breiman, professor of organizational and social research spoke about the importance of distance learning.

He said “We see it as important as a provision for people who want to study for a higher degree but who don’t’ have the time or the opportunity to take one or two years out of a very busy program; a programme of work, a programme of family responsibilities, but who do want to study.”

Dr Bruce Hern, lecturer in finance and corporate governance said while here, they will help currently enrolled students with any problems they may have with courses, such as research for their dissertation.

“We provide research one-to-ones, for students with issues about various aspects of research, that they may well have problems with, seeing that dissertation may well be the first piece of independent research that the students actually do on their own. And as a result we’re here to guide students through this process,” he said.

The university offers masters and doctorate degrees in several management related courses.

The professors travelled to nevis on Tuesday and will travel to Barbados later this week.
