UVI to Introduce PhD Course

(ZIZ News) – The University of the Virgin Islands is gearing up to expand its programs.

Linda Smith, Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Affairs at the University of the Virgin Islands, said in January the university will make the big announcement.

“This coming spring, of 2016, we look forward to sending out our announcement for the first PhD program which would be in creative leadership,” she said

Smith said recently the university conducted a survey among its alumni body asking their opinion on UVI expanding to include a PhD program.

She said the response was overwhelming.

“I say overwhelming to the point where individuals who did not receive or complete the survey as per the deadline started calling the office or emailing or requesting that it be reopened. So we did that and everyone who wanted to make sure that their concerns or opinions or how they felt about having the first ever PhD program responded again,” she said.

Smith is currently on island attending the 2nd annual ‘A Night before UVI’ on Thursday night. The event is hosted by the St. Kitts Chapter OF the UVI Alumni Association geared towards preparing recently admitted students for university life.
