Vaccines Prevent Severe Symptoms

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 14th, 2021 (ZIZ News) With the arrival of the first batch of vaccines Minister of Health the Hon Akilah Byron Nisbett is urging the public to continue following the established health protocols to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

In an interview with ZIZ Minister Byron Nisbett said these protocols are still important as the vaccine reduces the severity of Covid-19 but not necessarily the transmissibility.

Minister Byron Nisbbett however went on to note that some studies for implied that the Astrazeneca vaccine may reduce the rate of transmission the virus but more research is needed.

She said even though the vaccine is key to moving out of the pandemic the non-pharmaceutical measures are equally important in protecting the population from the disease.
