Verchild’s High School recognizes Talented Teen and Top Student

(ZIZ News) — The Verchild’s High school awarded their new National Carnival Talented Teen, Dolicia Barry and top student with the highest CXC passes, Khale Thomas during a ceremony at the school grounds on Monday morning.

The Talented Teen winner used the opportunity to thank the school for its continued support and recognition.

She also said it was an honour to serve as the first ever talented teen representative from the Verchild’s High school.

“It is indeed a privilege to confidently stand here as the newly crowned Miss National Carnival Talented Teen Queen. Not only is it an honour to have this prestigious title but also to be the first Verchild’s high contestant to capture this crown. I have created memorable history for my school but never in a million years could I have down it without the strong support from you, the staff and students of this school”, Barry said.

Permanent Secretary in The Ministry of Education, William Hodge congratulated the school’s staff and students.

“I expect that Miss National Talented Teen would continue to be a role model for all of you students and especially our young ladies. On behalf of the Ministry of Education we are delighted to congratulate Verchild’s High school and in particular, Dolicia Barry”, Hodge stated.

Khale Thomas was presented with a cheque of U.S $500.00 after passing 15 subjects with 10 ones and 5 two’s.

Thomas is the first recipient of the newly created scholarship courtesy of Alrick Warner, nephew of the first Principal of the former Verchild’s All Age School, Pearline Warner.

The award ceremony was held during the school’s general assembly.
