St. Croix Quadrille Dancers in an outdoor performance

BASSETERRE, ST.KITTS, 18 January, 2013 – Lovers of gospel music and/or quadrille dance should mark their calendars for a special treat which is two weeks away. The Voices of Grace Gospel Choir and the Quadrille Dancers both from the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in St. Croix, USVI will be performing in St. Kitts & Nevis over the period February 8 to 11.

Described as a multi-talented group, the Gospel choir is a combined choir made up of the Episcopal Men’s Fellowship and the Episcopal Church Women. Not only are they gospel singers but they are famous for their quadrille dancing and have travelled to Kissimmee, in Florida every October to perform at the St. John’s Episcopal Church.

While in St. Kitts and Nevis, they are scheduled to perform at a Cultural Evening slated for Friday 8th February. Performances from the Folk Singers and Youth Dancers of St. Peter’s, St. Kitts and the St. Paul’s Youth Dancers and Folk Singers will add variety to what is expected to be a very entertaining evening. The event will be held at the Anglican Church Hall on Victoria Road.

“We are very excited to be hosting these groups not only because of the historically strong connections that we have with them here at St. Pauls and St. Peters in St. Kitts, but because of the opportunity it provides for them to share in the first anniversary celebrations of the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir,” said Deaconess and Choir Director, Mrs Delores Gumbs. As Founder and former Choir Director of the visiting gospel choir she also testified to their high quality performances and implored the general public to make time to experience one of their presentations during this visit.

An International Food Day on Saturday 9th February, will give the visitors and the general public a taste of local cuisine and that of other nationalities resident on St. Kitts & Nevis. This activity will form part of the celebratory activities for the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir and was planned to coincide with the visit of the Quadrille Dancers and Gospel Choir of St. Croix. Patrons to this activity will also be able to sample food and drink from countries including Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua and Anguilla among several others. This event will take place at the St. Peter’s Parish Grounds from 11 in the morning.

The visitors end their visit with a trip to sister-island Nevis for their final performance on Monday 11th February.

“We hope to see friends and families from across denominations, gospel music lovers, cultural lovers and just about everybody at one or all of these activities in February and thank you in anticipation of your support,” entreated Shawna Maynard, President of the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir of St. Peter’s St. Kitts.
