Voters in Constituencies, #1 and #2 exercise their right to vote in St. Kitts and Nevis General Elections

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 5, 2020 (ZIZ News): Voters in Constituencies, #1 and #2 exercised their right to vote on Friday, June 5 2020.

 

Considering that voting is inherently linked to the building of democracy, the registered voters were seen lining up as early as 6 am, despite being informed that polls were not scheduled to open until 7 in the morning.

 

A total of six thousand and two (6002) registered voters were expected to cast their ballots across 15 polling stations in Constituency #1, while five thousand, four-hundred and eighteen (5418) registered voters were expected to exercise their franchise across 13 polling stations in Constituency #2.

 

Dr. Geoffrey Hanley of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) and Ian Liburd of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) are the candidates contesting Christopher 1.

 

Meanwhile, the Electoral Constituency of St. Christopher 2 is being contested by Jonel Powell of the People’s Action Movement and Marcella Liburd of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.

 

Results from the 2020 General Elections are expected to be announced on ZIZ Radio 96.1, TV Channel 5 and online at www.zizonline.com.
