(ZIZ News) The Vybzing Youth Forum, one of the activities leading up to the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) Board of Governors Meeting, commenced on Wednesday as the Bank keeps its pledge to support young people.
Speaking ahead of the forum, CDB Information Manager, Angela Parris said Vybzing has become a critical part the annual CDB Board of Governors Meeting.
She praised local Education, Youth and Culture Minister, Hon. Shawn Richards for his involvement in the Vybzing activities to date.
“We’ve been working very closely with the Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture and Sports with the Vybzing Youth Outreach Program. We’re very pleased that the Hon. Shawn Richards accepted the invitation to partner with the Bank with the Vybzing Youth Outreach Program,” she said.
Parris, whose comments came during a press conference on Tuesday, highlighted the significance of this year’s theme “Promoting Creative Entrepreneurship”.
“It’s very timely that we’ve chosen this theme because it’s very closely tied with youth employment and underemployment and those are issues that over the years, the young people throughout the region, not just St. Kitts and Nevis, have expressed as something that is very important to them. Creative industries and creative cultural industries is particularly important because it’s an avenue for young people and they feel engaged,” she said.
The Vybzing Youth Forum will run until May 15.
