Water department to monitor night flows

(ZIZ News) — As part of an ongoing project to monitor and correct water wastage across the region the Water Services Department will begin leak detection exercises in the near future.

The staff is currently undergoing training in water conservation and water auditing and according to facilitator Adolphus Daniel the next phase will including monitoring water usage at night, or night flows.

“We have worked in Grenada in some places where the night flow was 70% of the day flow. In other words when the nation went to sleep we still had the meter showing 70% of the usage during the day. You definitely know there’s a major leak or leaks in the system there,” he said.

He said once the leaks are detected the next phase would be repairing them with as little disruption to traffic as possible.
