Water Services Dept Urging Customers To Pay Their Bills

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 29th,  2021 (ZIZ News) The Water Services Department is encouraging customers who are in arrears to come to the department to settle their bills.

ZIZ News spoke with Acting Manager of the Water Services Department Cromwell Williams who said in the last five years there has been a significant fall off in the number of persons who pay their water bills regularly.

He said the department is aware of the constraints due to the ongoing pandemic, and is willing to give some leeway in that regard; however this issue is one that began before that time.

Mr. Williams said it is necessary for consumers to pay their bills because the revenue is needed in order for the department to provide water to the people of St. Kitts.

He said the last time the water tariff was increased was 20 years ago and noted that the water rates remain low and affordable.

Mr. Williams said persons are invited to come into the department and speak to a representative to settle their arrears. He said payment arrangement plans can be put in place for persons who are unable to pay their bill in full.

The department is informing the public that delinquent persons who do not make arrangements for payment by April 15th will be disconnected.
