‘Wear Red Day’ on Friday kicks off events leading to Labour Weekend activities

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 14TH 2011 (CUOPM) – This coming Friday 15th April has been declared “Wear Red” day as part of his governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party’s mobilization for several upcoming events including the traditional Labour Day weekend and the Party’s annual Conference.

“Friday of this week my people are asking that we wear red and so we shall start the mobilization of the pre-Labour organised activities by wearing red,” said Prime Minister Douglas at the conclusion of his monthly Press Conference on Tuesday.

He disclosed that a number of public meetings will be held leading up to the long Labour Day Weekend and invited residents to Black Rocks in Belle Vue to attend the annual Labour Family Affair on April 25th April.

“Our traditional Labour Queen Show at Carnival Village will see 8 beautiful contestants display talent and beauty on Saturday April 30th and then on the Sunday 1st May, another public meeting followed by the traditional Labour Day March on Monday 2nd May,” said Dr. Douglas.

He said that the annual Labour Party Conference will be held on May 15th and the Requiem Mass at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church on May 29th will round off the month-long activities “as we say thanks to God for giving us the Labour Leaders who have served selflessly and whose contributions have led to the transformation of this country from what it was in the colonial days into modern days and who have after laboring have taken their long earned rest.”
