Also present was Chairman of the interim Cricket committee on St. Kitts, Mr. Auckland Hector.

A press conference was held at the conference room of the Warner Park Stadium which started at 2.35 pm.

Local Sportscaster Vernon Springer welcomed the gathering to the event and then turned the proceedings over to Mr. Imran Kahn who indicated that apart from acquiring brief remarks from the individuals at the head table, the main purpose of the session was to formally introduce the new CEO to the cricket fraternity in St. Kitts and Nevis and to allow the members of the press ‘to grill him with their questions.’

Mr. Auckland Hector

Interim Chairman of the committee responsible for St. Kitts Cricket, Mr. Auckland Hector warmly welcomed the new CEO and noted that he had come at a time when the West Indian cricketing public was starting to have belief in their team again and noted that Sir Vivian Richards had previously stated that he was convinced that the glory days could return under Sammy. He noted that the CEO would not have been able to enjoy the full hospitality of St. Kitts during his short stay but gave him an open invitation to return in January when St. Kitts will play host to the South Africa and West Indies female teams for two one dayers.

The first female Director to the WICB Ms Jennifer Nero, then eloquently introduced the new CEO. She described him as a ‘highly trained professional who has not only hit the road running-but hit the road sprinting.’ She listed some of his many academic accolades and stated with confidence that ‘he will get the job done.’

Mr. Imran Khan referenced her introduction as the best one he has heard so far and this was agreed to by a nod from the CEO.
