Wilkinson pleased with COVID statistics

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 25, 2020 (ZIZ News): Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Cameron Wilkinson says he is pleased with the statistics as it relates to COVID-19 patients in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Speaking at the April 26th edition of the NEOC Covid19 daily briefing, dr. Wilkinson said compared to countries around the world, the federation has been doing well.

“It is important for me to compare briefly what is happening around the world. In Spain today, there as celebration that after 6 weeks, children were allowed out for one hour to play and they also celebrated the fact that they also had a drop in their death rate per 24 hours down to 260 persons per 24 hrs from a high of about 900 or 1000…New York celebrated the fact that their death rate was down to 367 persons per 24 hrs, down from a high of about 1000 persons per day. Here in St. Kitts, over that 6 week period, we identified 15 cases.”

Dr. Wilkinson said we should all be happy with the results thus far, noting that approximately 25 percent of the federation’s Covid19 cases have completely recovered.

“These 15 cases were isolated. All of their contacts were identified, and quarantined and tested and to date all of them are negative. Of the 15 cases they are all doing well. To date we have zero deaths, we have zero hospitalizations and you just heard we had two more persons added to the list of completely recovered. Which means that more than 25 percent of our persons have recovered.”

At the briefing on Sunday, it was announced that two more persons have recovered from Covid19, effectively leaving the active Covid19 cases at 11.
